With a freshly prepared face in step one, you are now ready to conceal any spots or discolorations you would like to hide. Most cosmetologists recommend creamy or stick concealers used under foundation. The proper approach: dot on and “stipple” (blot and blend) gently with a dry wedge sponge or clean finger for seamless coverage. You can also dot some concealer over foundation, before powder, for added coverage.

Choosing the right color is important. Without the right color, you may highlight rather than conceal your trouble spots. So ask for samples or attend a local LGFB group program for expert attention. A well-chosen concealer works wonders.

Generally, the color should match your skin tone. However, a slightly lighter color is often suggested to cover dark patches, such as under-eye circles. There are also color-correcting concealers in green (to offset redness) or yellow (to downplay bluish discolorations). For birthmarks and scars, thicker, more opaque concealers are available. Be sure to check with your doctor before using any of these items on treated or healing areas.
