It’s unpleasant to think about and can be jarring and difficult to experience. Yet coping with hair loss is often part of living with cancer. And many women find strength in joining with other women who’ve been there. At LFGB group programs, women at different stages of cancer treatment come together to learn options and support each other. Participants often note how reassuring it is to see a fellow patient whose hair is growing back in — and to know that it’s just a matter of time for them, too.

Our cosmetologists help each woman compare and experiment with options for the right look. While wearing a wig can be an ideal solution for varying degrees of hair loss, some women prefer hats, scarves and headwraps with or without hairpieces. (See Wig Choice and Wig Styling.) Switching between these looks can offer versatility and easy maintenance.

Whatever your daily needs, be assured there are myriad ways to deal with hair loss stylishly. Even for the most special occasions.

LGFB also offers a video, “Just For You: A step-by-step guide to help you look good feel better during cancer treatment” for those unable to attend a group program. See before/after photos from the video or call 1-800-395-LOOK to order the VHS for yourself — or a friend.
